In Honor of LGBTQI+ Pride Month

In honor of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) Pride Month, we are proud to announce that Pooja Virani (she/her) will be offering internal and external education on Gender Expression to our project team, artists, volunteers and wider community to include a festival-wide session for Interfusion Festival 2023.

According to the 2022 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health, 45 percent of young LGBTQ people have seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year. However, LGBTQ youth who live in a community that is accepting of LGBTQ people reported significantly lower rates of attempting suicide than those who do not. Interfusion Festival believes LGBTQI+ rights are human rights, and we stand with the LGBTQI+ community as an ally in the struggle against discrimination, injustice and intolerance.

This action aligns with the Interfusion Festival second Guiding Principle of Inclusion, which we define as: “We are committed to fostering a culture where all feel supported, empowered, and welcomed. We encourage diversity of backgrounds and perspectives with utmost grace and respect”.

V/ respectfully,

Interfusion Team
