VOLUNTEER
The Community Volunteer Program (CVP) is made up of over a hundred volunteers working alongside project ops staff to serve the wider community at Interfusion Festival. Founded in 2016, it has grown to now include several specialty teams serving in roles supporting consent, health and safety, logistics, guest relations and more. Volunteers are provided a full festival pass in exchange for 10 hours of community service.
Festival Ops Teams

No previous training required. Team members will be required to attend a virtual training session.
- Welcome festival participants as they arrive at the festival front desk
- Walk through the check-in process with attendees including waiver signatures and wristbands
- Provide “help desk” guest services for and properly direct attendees as needed
- Responsible for the sale of festival merchandise during the event
- Keep the check-in and registration line organized and free of clutter
- Provide ad hoc support to the team and artists wherever needed
- Assisting in setting up and breaking down the front desk area each day
- Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 2PM – Monday at 12PM
No previous training required. Team members will be required to attend a virtual training session.
- Check for wristband and provide general assistance to guests at access entry points
- Direct attendees to registration if they do not have a wristband or in need of other support
- Report any sensitive access control issues to on staff security personal
- Respond to basic festival ground inquiries regarding locations of activities
- Assist with check-in participants to special festival sessions when needed
- Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 2PM – Monday at 12PM
No previous training required.
- Responsible for installation and breakdown of equipment and inventory, including festival setups and strike operations (e.g. signage, banners, mats, etc.)
- Conduct ballroom temperature checks and coordinate thermostat changes when needed
- Keep track of water availability and management in ballrooms and pre-function areas
- Small item inventory management for festival ops, artist workshops and night activities
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs is required
- Closed toe shoes and/or sneakers are required
- Comfortable clothes are required
- Schedules will vary beginning Wednesday at 8AM – Monday at 6PM
No previous training required.
- Fill in for no-show volunteers who were assigned a specific position prior to the event
- Assist festival artists, managers and guests with special requests, when appropriate
- Conduct basic festival operation tasks to support other CVP teams during peak times, as needed
- Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 2PM – Monday at 6PM
No previous training required.
- Responsible for supporting food and beverage activities for overnight festival artists and staff
- Assist the meal coordinator with food delivery and setup with designated caterers
- Place meal orders and pick up meals from local restaurants, when needed
- Maintain a fresh supply of healthy snacks for staff & artists (aside from catering)
- Keep the dining area of the command center clean and organized
- Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 4PM – Monday at 12PM
No previous training required.
- Responsible for providing support to the community volunteer program director
- Maintain volunteer hub space and welcome in volunteers as they check-in to report to duty
- Assist with overall management and coordination of the volunteer team during the event
- Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 2PM – Monday at 12PM
Acroyoga training required.
The Acro Ambassadors are a team of individuals who share a passion for acro, and are ready to throw down a front plank, bird, or straddle throne at the drop of a hat. We’re the people who support others in their never ending quest to get lifted! The Acro Ambassadors are ever-present and constantly vigilant. We are ready to safely spot, base, and fly on others as they conquer fears, dive into trust, and
accomplish what they never thought possible. Are you one of us?
As an Acro Ambassador, you will:
- Help others find their passion
- Attend classes that you are scheduled for
- Facilitate communication between participants
- Provide safety techniques to be used in classes
- Answer questions about Acro
- Facilitate group formation in classes so that others feel included and welcome
- Assist the teachers as requested
- Have so much fun your face might melts off with joy
Passionate about learning audio/visual technology? As an audio-visual tech team member, you will:
- Provide assistance to instructors with activating microphones and verifying the proper functionality of audio equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment area
- Ensure audio-visual needs are met for seamless transitions between workshops
- Basic audio-visual setup
Schedules will vary beginning Thursday at 2PM – Monday at 12PM.
No previous training required. Team members will be required to attend a virtual training session.
- Responsible for providing support to the Expo coordinator
- Assist in vendor logistics such as set-up and clean up
- Provide support to exhibitors as questions arise
Passionate about ecstatic dance, liberated movement and connection? Ready to participate, dance, and flow at the drop of a hat. As an Ecstatic Dance Ambassador you will aid to maintain positively high vibes in the ecstatic dance night space.
● Answer questions about Ecstatic Dance, guide others to the features of the space
● Facilitate communication between participants creating an inclusive and caring space
● Facilitate group formation in the dance warm-ups so that others feel included and welcome
● Assist the DJs and artists as needed
● Maintain cleanliness and order in the ballroom dance, cuddle and tea areas

● Schedules vary beginning Thursday from 9PM – 1AM and Friday-Sun from 8:30PM – 4:30AM
Must be able to attend a volunteer meeting on Friday night 8pm-9pm.
Passionate about connection and tea? Be a Tea-rista during the evening Ecstatic Dream Dance activities! Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and serve tea at the tea table.
- Be a warm, fun and have an engaging presence
- Create a place of connection.
- Housekeeping tasks: organizing, heating water, brewing tea, sanitizing cups, etc.
Schedules will vary beginning Friday from 8:30PM – Sunday at 4:30AM. Note: night-time shifts only.
Must be able to attend a volunteer meeting on Friday night 8pm-9pm.
Community Care Center

The Care Center Reception Team will staff the Care Center and assist people approaching the Care Center to access the Care Team services they need. The Care Teams include the Consent, Medical, Emotional Support, and ASL Interpreting Teams.
As a Reception Team member, you will:
- Respond kindly and appropriately to people who approach the Care Center to access services or information.
- Answer questions about emotional health, consent culture (including the Interfusion Consent Code of Conduct) and related issues.
- Provide empathic listening to participants who have minor emotional support needs or consent issues.
- Receive consent incident reports and follow the reporting protocol.
- Assist participants to access Support Team members as needed.
To be selected for the Care Center Reception Team, applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Experience, knowledge, and/or skills in empathic listening
- Experience, knowledge, and/or skills in upholding consent culture
- Ability to follow a multistep protocol with precision and accuracy
Team members will be required to attend a virtual training.
The Consent Response Team is a group of people who will directly respond to consent incident reports, and seek resolution that maximizes healing, growth, and harmony while minimizing harm. Members of the Consent Response team will be on call during their shifts. This means that they can attend workshops or spend their time freely on festival grounds, but will need to keep a walkie-talkie on them and be reachable/interruptible at all times in order to respond to consent incidents. This flexibility and freedom is to allow for any hours spent resolving consent incidents outside of assigned shift hours. As a Consent Response Team member, you will:
- Check in at the Care Center at the beginning and end of your shift, plus more as needed.
- Answer participant questions about consent culture, the Interfusion Consent Code of Conduct, or related issues
- Remain available, responsive, and easy-to-contact during your on-call shifts, even while attending workshops or conducting other activities.
- Respond promptly when a consent incident report comes in, and exercise discernment to assemble a Response Team to choose and implement the appropriate course(s) of action (i.e. empathic listening, mediation, education, suspension).
- Devote the necessary time and energy to seek resolution for any Consent Incidents that you are “Lead Responder” for, including outside of your on-call shift hours.
- Consult and collaborate with other Consent Response Team members, Care Center volunteers, Security Team members, and Interfusion organizers as needed
- Attend 4 hours of live, virtual Consent Response Team training prior to the festival, in addition to any general Interfusion Volunteer trainings or requirements
To be selected for the Consent Response Team, applicants must demonstrate the following:
- Skill and experience supporting and/or coaching people who are having an emotional reaction
- Experience upholding consent culture in community and/or relationship
- Experience or familiarity with conflict resolution, restorative justice, transformative justice, or other modalities and processes designed to respond to instances of harm
- Ability to exercise discernment on complicated issues
- Possession of a working cell phone with internet access during the event
The Emotional Support Team will help support the mental health of festival participants. During their shifts, members of the team will be on call to provide counseling and support to participants in need. Members interested in applying for these positions must be willing to volunteer their services, be trained in HIPAA (privacy and confidentiality) and must be a licensed therapist or psychologist. Must possess a working cell phone with internet access during the event.
As an Emotional Support Team member, you will:
- Remain available, responsive, and easy-to-contact during your shifts
- Respond and follow up promptly when a participant requests mental health support
- Provide counseling or other mental health support to participants in need
- Notify appropriate personnel if the issue requires further attention
- Log the requests, your responses, and amount of time spent using a simple online report form
- Assist in providing resources to an individual in the event further treatment or resources are requested
- May be asked for assistance after the festival to follow up with incident reports that are given once the festival is over
Must be a certified Registered Nurse or an EMT (at a minimum); emergency response experience preferred.
- Serves as first respondents for any medical issues experienced by festival guests, artists and staff until the arrival of the paramedics (if needed for more than minor medical incidents).
- Responsible for maintaining the first aid kit and communicating with festival management if additional medical supplies become needed.
- Must stay connected to cell phone and/or walkie-talkie and remain on festival grounds at all times when on duty.
The American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter team will help provide access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees by providing interpreting services at selected festival sessions and pre-festival trainings. Must be a certified ASL interpreter.
