The practice of Kundalini Yoga aims to arouse the sleeping Kundalini Shakti from its coiled base and move it upwards through the 6 chakras to penetrate the 7th, crown, chakra.
Breathwork and the application of bandhas, also known as yogic locks, are essential in Kundalini Yoga practice as they aid in releasing, directing and controlling the flow of Kundalini energy from the lower chakras to the higher chakras.
The practices of kriyas and meditations in Kundalini Yoga are designed to raise body awareness to prepare the body, nervous system, and mind to handle the energy of Kundalini rising. Most physical postures focus on navel activity, spinal alignment, and selective directed pressure on the meridians.
Each Kundalini Yoga class offers a kriya (a set of postures, sounds and breathwork) designed to raise your kundalini energy and bring you to greater physical and emotional health. The kriya is followed by a relaxation and a meditation.
