
Michelle Reyes is one of the main kizomba dance instructors in the Washington, DC area & has been teaching dance for 25 years. Michelle went to Lisbon, Portugal for her kizomba training. There she studied under Mestre Petchu & Vanessa & graduated from their prestigious Kizomba, Semba, & Tarraxinha Teacher’s Training course, with additional training in their kizomba, semba, & musicality speciality courses. She also took the AfroLatin Connection Kizomba Teacher’s Course (Levels 1 & 2) with the famous directors Ricardo & Paula. In 2015, Michelle went on an educational kizomba trip to Cape Verde & was able to experience Cape Verdean culture, music, & dance. This year she added another specialized teacher’s course to her dance resume given by the renowned Eddy Vents. In total, she has over 150 hours of specialized instructor training in kizomba, semba, & tarraxinha.
Michelle is also the director of the DC team for AfroLatin Connection’s World Team Project. Currently it’s the first & only ALC US team & they’re currently traveling to perform at different festivals & congresses. Michelle offers weekly kizomba classes in DC & has been invited to teach workshops in different cities across the US. She regularly teaches at congresses & has been a featured kizomba instructor at major festivals such as Baltimore, Charlotte, DC, LA, NY, St. Louis, Denver, Tucson, Grand Canyon & Moab!
