RELATIONSHIP SKILLS

Relationships are some of the most deeply rewarding experiences of our lives, yet we rarely practice the skills needed to nourish them. How do we learn to better define our values, set boundaries, ask for what we want, convert conflict into connection? By examining connection and sexuality from the lenses of science and lived experience, we can transform our relationships from something we “fall into” to something we design and sustain with intentionality and care.

Self-relationship is arguably the most important of our lives, the foundation of all other interactions. By turning inward to cultivate awareness, acceptance, and purpose, we can show up in relationship with others as our fullest selves.

Avoiding conflict in our intimate partnerships robs us of the chance to be fully known and experience true intimacy. Learning how to lean into discomfort can help us get to the heart of the matter, and turn conflict into energy for growth.

For millennia, humans have been asking: how do we make love last? Examining the legal, social, cultural and psychological motivations for the way our love lives are structured can provide lessons for all relationship types for how to make long-lasting love a possibility.

Often, we embark on culturally determined paths for relationship development, without questioning what we want. Relationship designs, or agreements, offer a tool to reveal our hidden assumptions and craft the relationships we truly desire—from friendships to partnerships, and everything in between.
