Mikela began her movement journey in 2016 when she left her job as an elementary school teacher to pursue yoga teacher training. She quickly fell in love with the practice and committed herself to movement practices as a means for healing. For 6 years she served as Collective Director at Yoga District overseeing the operations of 7 studios across Washington, DC. During this time, she organized 30+ yoga teacher training sessions, worked with hundreds of trainees, and developed and taught the training curriculum on diversity, equity, and inclusivity in yoga spaces.
Mikela is currently a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in training with a focus on somatic and mindfulness practices, art therapy, and person-centered counseling at Johns Hopkins University. In her spare time, she works as a licensed massage therapist in Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland.
