Health & Safety Update On Reported COVID-19 Cases (I of II)

Dearest Interfusion Community,

For transparency, at this time the Interfusion Health & Safety Team (H&S Team) has been informed of ten participants testing positive for COVID-19 in the days following their departure from Interfusion Festival VII (IFVII). For awareness none of these individuals have reported severe symptoms at this time.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 is a critical component in the overall control of COVID-19. The H&S Team asks that all IFVII participants continue to test over the course of this week using the rapid self-test kits provided or another source of accessible and reliable testing.

Individuals who have COVID-19 may be asymptomatic, meaning they don’t have symptoms, which reduces the efficacy of symptom screeners as a method of control and prevention. However, with its limitations, symptom screeners still provide an added layer of control and prevention to help reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2. The H&S Team encourages all IFVII participants to consider using a daily symptom screener over the course of this week to observe possible symptoms of illness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), proper face mask use may help reduce the emissions of virus-laden droplets by the wearer, which is especially relevant for asymptomatic infected persons who feel well but may be unaware of possible infectiousness to others. The Interfusion H&S Team encourages all IFVII participants to consider using face masks over the course of this week, when possible, to help prevent and control the possibility of transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

If you test positive the week after departure from IFVII or anytime in the future, follow CDC guidelines, including isolating from others and guidance on taking care of yourself for a speedy recovery. If you test positive the week after participating for one or more days in IFVII, send a message to to inform our team.

A more complete update on reported COVID-19 cases as they relate to participants of IFVII will be made public no later than January 24th.

V/ Respectfully,

Interfusion Team
